Project Introduction
Background
Physical activity is important for the development of physical and mental well-being in children and youth. World Health Organization recommended that children and youth should do at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity daily.
However, evidence shows that children and youth with disabilities are insufficiently active to achieve health benefits. We strongly believe that they should have more opportunities to participate in physical activity regardless of age, sex, disability type and ability in order to facilitate their physical and psychosocial health as well as to improve their quality of life.
Project Objectives
1. To increase physical activity opportunities for children and youth with disabilities
2. To promote physical and psychosocial health as well as quality of life in children and youth with disabilities
3. To advance professional competence and practice in adapted physical activity or special physical education in physical educators and practitioners
4. To promote social inclusion between children and youth with and without disabilities
